Statik Selektah and Termanology collaborated as 1982 to release one of the best albums of 2010. We caught up with each of them to talk about their earliest experiences with hip-hop. Check out the videos below where each discusses Where It All Began for him in hip-hop.

Statik Selektah

Statik Selektah is one of the hardest working and illest producers around. Made in the mold of legendary producers like DJ Premier and Pete Rock, his tracks have defined today’s underground sound. And, he has worked with everyone from Freddie Gibbs, Termanology, Action Bronson, Big K.R.I.T. and Reks to KRS-One, OC, Nas, AZ and M.O.P. Here’s a look at the influences that helped shape his sound. He discusses his evolution of musical taste from the music of MC Hammer to that of KRS-One, Rakim, Nas and, of course, DJ Premier. This is the story of Where It All Began in hip-hop for Statik Selektah.

Termanology

Termanology burst onto the underground hip-hop scene in 2006 and has been steady grinding ever since. His collaboration with Statik Selektah in 2010, as 1982, took him to new levels. He sat down with us and took us through the music that helped shape him into the MC he has become. He talked about his early love for Black Sheep to having to hide his hip-hop tapes from his parents when he was younger to working with the legendary DJ Premier. This is the story of Where It All Began in hip-hop for Termanology.
