One of my all-time pre-Game Theory Roots tracks is “The Water.” The way Black Thought spoke about his love candidly for Malik B was raw, and to any of us that have close ones who battle demons, it simply resonated. Still a close collaborator with The Roots, Malik is working hard with New Jersey producer Mr. Green, who brought some of the post-Outsidaz magic out of Pacewon and Young Zee in recent years. “Definition” is a promising glimpse from the pair’s upcoming LP, Unpredictable. My interest is piqued for this album.
