Mack Wilds (aka actor Tristan Wilds from The Wire and 90210) has created an album that is both an ode to his hometown of NYC and his clear love for Hip-Hop. While Mack sings on the majority of the album, the Hip-Hop presence is ubiquitous, from the Executive Production of Salaam Remi (Fugees, Nas, Lauryn Hill), to production from DJ Premier, Havoc and Pete Rock (who also guest DJ’d a listening session for the album over the Summer), to guest verses from Method Man, Raekwon and Doug E. Fresh. It’s not just any Hip-Hop though. The album is a throwback to a 90’s era NYC where groups like Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan and Gang Starr dominated the airwaves.
