Killer Mike & El-P Run The Jewels & Get It (Video)

A couple years ago, TDE offered up Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80 for a free Soundcloud stream when the indie effort was released. Easily accessible, the acclaimed album felt like a mixtape to many. The same was true of Ab-Soul’s #ControlSystem and a host of other albums these last three years.

Killer Mike & El-P’s first joint as Run The Jewels is even more perplexing. Available on vinyl and coming to CD, Fool’s Gold Records offered up the joint for free upon its June release. The line between mixtapes and albums grows thinner as this joint may be a topper on quite a few Album Of The Year lists for 2-0-1-3.

For “Get It,” the pair pull extensively from their nationwide tour with former Def Jux artist Despot and Kool A.D. of Das Racist fame. The result is a Vine-meets-postcard look at the pair performing with brew and blunt in hand. This tour was one of the year’s better, and this visual is a welcomed addition to one of the most unique album roll-outs in some years.
