Danny Brown’s Old was one of 2013’s many polarizing releases in the Rap genre. Detroit, Michigan’s Danny has a unique style and delivery that calls some Heads back to early ’90s, and makes others cringe. In “Dope Song,” Danny gives a visual explanation to vast influences, ranging from The Pharcyde to Gangsta Rap. Driving through the D in an old wide-boy Cadillac Fleetwood, Danny spits his lyrics in the backseat, to passersby, and anybody who will listen. If you pay close attention to lyrics, you’ll realize that this animated MC has a lot to say in this simple, but highly effective visual.
