Nas Touches On If He’s Ever Considered A Sequel To Illmatic (Video)

Moments before he was honored by J. Cole at a VIBE magazine event during Grammy weekend, Nas sat with the publication. Asked if he’s ever considered a Raekwon Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…Pt. II-esque sequel to his classic debut, Illmatic, Nas answers what he answers with few words more than “Yes and no.”

The Queensbridge MC is often asked about Illmatic, or his working relationship with that album’s producers, especially DJ Premier and early mentor Large Professor. However, is Stillmatic possibly the answer to the question?

Premo, Extra P, and L.E.S. were involved in both releases. Both, arguably, had that street edge, plus beats from the likes of Benzino’s Hangmen 3 collective, Trackmasters, Da Beatminerz’ Baby Paul, Salaam Remi, and Chucky Thompson. Nasir’s fifth LP also featured AZ, the breakout feature from the artist’s first.

Rather than dwell on what-if’s, has Nas already answered his own question?
