Dave Chappelle Recalls Being Mistaken As A Member Of The Roots, Prince Laughing At Himself (Video)

Dave Chappelle had two critical media appearances in the past week. At the top of things, the Ohio native appeared on “The Late Show With David Letterman,” discussing his absence from the spotlight, and walking away from $50 million from Comedy Central to fulfill a “Chappelle Show” contract. Later appearing on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” Dave gets a lil’ more musical. Asked up his upcoming shows with The Roots, Erykah Badu, DJ Premier, and recently-added Nas, Chappelle looked over at The Roots and recalled a presumably late ’90s, early 2000s experience in Portland, Maine, where some folks misunderstood autograph seekers and deduced Dave as a member of the Grammy Award-winning Philadelphia music group.

Additionally, Dave reacts to Prince’s using Chappelle’s image on a recent single, alluding to the response from the famous TV sketch. Lastly, you’ll get Chap’ telling a hilarious story involving Common, Talib Kweli, and the alleged first time Kanye West performed on national television.
