Quench Your Thirst With Mick Jenkins’ The Water[s] (Mixtape)

Influenced at a young age by the likes of Prince, Erykah Badu, Sade, and Jill Scott, the 23 year old MC Mick Jenkins displays his own developing musicality with his latest mixtape, The Water[s].

Jenkins dives deep into varied depths of production from the ambient, Trap laced “THC,” to the floating, illusory cut “Jazz”, and down to the soulfully sampled, “Drink More Water.” Despite the audible differences, the Chicago MC stays fluid throughout and synchronizes the sounds with a ‘think outside the box’ message centralized around the idea that The Water[s] he pours is all the nourishment you’ll need.

Mick has had the opportunity to work with fellow up and coming Chicagoans Chance The Rapper, Saba, and Vic Mensa in the past and has even received praise from Timbaland for his talents in recent months. For this 15 track project however, the Free Nation rapper features artists Joey Bada$$, The Mind, Jena Deaux, No Gypsy, and Ebony with production from Statik Selektah, OnGaud, DJ Dahi, Kirk Knight, and more.
