Tragedy Khadafi Is Still Running Strong (Audio Exclusive)

In less than one month, Queens, New York MC veteran Tragedy Khadafi is releasing his latest album, Pre-Magnum Opus (December 16). In his 25-plus-year career, Tragedy (p/k/a The Intelligent Hoodlum) has garnered strong acclaim, both as a major label artist in the early 1990s, as well as during his extensive independent tenures.

The LP’s second single (following October’s “Free Thinkers 2”) premieres today (November 25) on Ambrosia For Heads. “Running” is an intimate perspective of the literal movement that drives that industry survivor, soul survivor, and quite obviously, a life survivor. With an homage to an R&B classic, this hard-rapping touches upon Tragedy’s youth, prison tenures, and will to succeed:

A protege of Marley Marl and the Juice Crew, Trag’ would later play the role of mentor to Capone-N-Noreaga, as well as his indie veteran-stuffed crew, Black Market Militia. Throughout the years, Khadafi has made contributions to heralded albums beyond his own catalog, including C-N-N’s The War Report, Pete Rock’s Soul Survivor, Jedi Mind Tricks’ Violent By Design, Cormega’s The Realness, and Marley Marl’s In Control, Vol. 1.

Pre-Magnum Opus serves as an eighth full-length studio project by Tragedy, following 2011’s Thug Matrix 3.
