A Year Isn’t A Year Until Skillz’ Wraps It Up With His Rap. 2014, Salute! (Audio)

In less than 48 hours, 2014 is in the bag. Even though he reportedly swore he wouldn’t do it anymore a few years back, Skillz pleased the people with a signature “Rap Up.” For 2-0-1-4, the Virginia MC chronicles everything, from the lighter hearted (Rick Ross’ weight loss, Pharrell’s takeover, Khloe Kardashian and French Montana’s romantic interests) to the serious (lost airplanes, racist remarks from Donald Sterling, “Black Lives Matter” protesting).

As is always the case, the onetime Big Beat, and later, Rawkus Records star thrives in weaving his annual narrative together with humor, candor, and a nonchalant master’s delivery. Although Shaquan did not release an album in 2014, he had one of his better years, through some captivating songs and amazing freestyles (including one DJ’ing while rapping).
