Lupe Fiasco’s Metaphors Extend With A Yoga-Inspired Message To The People (Audio)

Lupe Fiasco’s Tetsuo & Youth is slated to drop on January 20. With the day on its way, the 1st & 15th veteran star graced the new year, and new month, with some music. ‘Lu, who is often praised for his ear for production sources, turned to hit-maker DJ Dahi (Drake, ScHoolboy Q, Big Sean) for “Adoration Of The Magi.”

Inspired, in part, by yoga, Lupe talks about Downward Dog and “looking to the sky” at the same time. The Chicago, Illinois MC who is often praised for his extended metaphors describes intimacy, ambition, and encouragement to the people in this hypnotic pocket. Moreover, in doing so, Lu’s wordplay—including compound rhymes, double entendres, homonyms, and more tools favor presentation over Pop appeal. Dahi’s track, something that feels out of the Outkast world, but something all of his own (especially given his Top Dawg Entertainment catalog), add to the meditative feel. Lu’ is the zone.

Does this increase your interest in Lupe Fiasco’s latest LP? Will Atlantic Records push a song like this to the mainstream?
