The Beatles’ Paul McCartney To Co-Produce Kanye West’s Seventh LP? An Insider Says So…

Thirteen months since Q-Tip and Rick Rubin were slated to produce “the bulk” of Kanye West’s seventh solo album, a follow-up to 2013’s Yeezus, a new iconic name enters the fold. Paul McCartney, of The Beatles, Wings, and nothing short of a legendary solo career is the latest name attributed to produce the yet-untitled LP. Where is this news coming from though? Kanye West’s…barber.

Over the weekend, a collaboration between McCartney, West, and Rihanna hit the Internet, “FourFiveSeconds”:

Following this, West’s barber Ibn Jasper, replied to an Instagram comment that the legendary songwriter, vocalist, and producer has a dedicated role on the upcoming Def Jam Records release:

Less than one month ago, McCartney and West displayed their first collaboration, “Only One,” inspired by Kanye’s late mother, Dr. Donda West, and his daughter, North West.

Previously, ‘Ye has worked with ’60s and ’70s musical icons including Elton John, Roy Ayers, Charlie Wilson, and others. Beyond his bands, band-mates, and solo work, McCartney provided production, vocals, and instrumentation for the likes of Rolling Stones, Badfinger, and of course, Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

On 2010’s “Gorgeous,” Kanye ironically rhymed, “What’s a Black Beatle anyways, a fucking roach? I guess that’s why they got me sitting in fucking coach.” The lyric was in response to a critical comparison made about West’s work. The line prompted a 2013 Beatles/Kanye West mash-up mixtape, What’s A Black Beatle?

Notably, music credited to West was cease-and-desisted in the early 2000s, when he reportedly sampled “Eleanor Rigby” for a promotional song for Talib Kweli’s The Beautiful Mix CD, “All The Lonely People.” The original Revolver single was penned by none other than Sir Paul.

Do you believe this rumor? How do you think Paul McCartney will fit in with Rick Rubin and The Abstract?
