Big Sean Has Pioneered Lots Of Flows. Is He Borrowing One In His Latest Visual? (Video)

Back in 2009 and 2010, when Drake was skyrocketing to the top of Hip-Hop’s ruling class, Big Sean‘s name was coming up a lot. Many Heads, especially those who were following mixtapes in the late ’00s, claimed that Drizzy’s punchline-pause style, and other elements of his flow were coming from Detroit, Michigan hopeful Big Sean.

Well, shortly thereafter Sean was no longer a hopeful, and now a certified star. Moreover, with his witty wordplay, penchant for punchlines, and ability to make clever yet easily-grasped references in Pop songs made him a top influence among his peers. Kanye West, who inked Sean to G.O.O.D. Music more than five years ago changed while in his corner, as did others.

With a new album in stores today, Dark Sky Paradise, Sean dropped a cinematic visual for “Dark Sky (Skyscrapers).” Artful angles and careful lighting complement the song perfectly in the latest in an onslaught of videos for the Def Jam release. However, for an artist so original, could it be argued that Ariana Grande’s boyfriend might be trying on label-mate Rick Ross’ delivery on this particular number?
