Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent & Paul Rosenberg Tell The Story of Shady Records (Video)

In 1999, Eminem and Paul Rosenberg founded Shady Records. While the expectations might have been great, few could have predicted that Eminem would go on to become the best-selling artist of the next decade, making Shady Records one of the most powerful labels in Hip-Hop.

Even with Eminem’s massive success, the label was not built on the back of one man alone. Shady would go on to sign 50 Cent whose first two albums, Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and The Massacre, would sell a combined 21 million units (and counting). And, of course, it helped to have one of Hip-Hop’s dominant producers of all-time, in Dr. Dre, behind the scenes. The label would also go on to add significant credibility by signing Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf and other highly respected lyricists.

Complex sat down with Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s one-time lawyer and long term business partner, for a detailed look at the story of Shady Records from the start to the present. Not Afraid: The Shady Records Story is a rich documentary that tells the inside story of one of Hip-Hop’s most impactful record labels.
