Ludacris Deploys A Slow Flow To Talk About The Smoke & Mirrors Of The Rap Game (Audio)

Ludacris’ ninth solo LP, Ludaversal (March 31) is one week away. Within the album, the Rap mainstay has one song that reflects on his journey, and the stresses that come with a sustainable career in the industry. Listening to a superstar whine might not be appealing or original in theory, but the Furious 7 star flips this idea on its head for “Charge It To The Rap Game.”

Basically, Luda’ gives the advice typically heard behind closed doors. From groupie encounters gone wrong to stolen jewelery to the balance of keeping a label and a fan-based happy are all explored. ‘Cris’ typically-animated flow is stripped down, as is the tempo of the delivery. On an !llmind track (Skyzoo, G.O.O.D. Music, Eminem), Ludacris wants to simply be heard. This type of honesty combats the nice-guy, never-taxed image of the Def Jam flagship artist.

In other news, Ludacris upset First Round Bye T.I. in Ambrosia For Heads’ “Finding The GOAT…” bracket series. Later this month, Luda’ will appear in a Round 3 ballot, among the Top 42 MCs spanning the history of Hip-Hop. Will he advance further? Only you can decide…
