Remember Mixtape Wiz Khalifa? He’s Back…With Curren$y (Audio)

Before the Pop charts and the Gold plaques, Wiz Khalifa was one of the most revered MCs on the mixtape circuits. Projects like Burn After Rolling and Kush & Orange Juice help to launch one of Hip-Hop’s most distinctive voices into orbit. Wiz’s laid-back flow and penchant for soulful tracks endeared him to more established artists of the same ilk like Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross. However, even before those would be collaborators, Wiz linked arms with an MC who shared his love for tapes, tracks and THC: Curren$y.

Together, Wiz and Spitta recorded How Fly in 2009, and they’ve reunited for a tour and another joint project. After major labels deals and several subsequent mixtapes for each, they return to their essence of chilled out flows over dark and moody beats, with a wink and a head nod to how despite their re-visiting a prior chapter, times still change.
