A master of freestyles and concept tracks, sometimes it can be easy to overlook Skillz (f/k/a Mad Skillz) straightforward songs. However, one fast revisit of From Where??? and it’s apparent that the Richmond, Virginia MC has many clubs in his bag of tricks. Currently doing a European arena run (as a DJ, no less) support of Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint Tour, the onetime Rawkus Records MC makes one of his most strongest songs in years.

“The Sky Ain’t The Limit” sounds refreshing, as Skillz takes a bow of gratitude in a career that’s encompassed more than 20 years. The onetime DJ Clark Kent collaborator is enjoying the fruits of his tenacity. Produced by BINK! (who many Heads know from the glory years of Roc-A-Fella Records), this track sounds like something causing fans to throw diamonds up. Instead, it’s Skillz, telling his story, celebrating the moment, and glistening as he shows that good things come to those who challenge themselves.

Like D-Nice and Biz Markie, it’s pretty remarkable how adapting to DJ’ing has opened more doors for Skillz. What’s more, he’s still rapping incredibly.
