Chris Rivers DESTROYS the Mic on Sway In The Morning (Video)

Chris Rivers (f/k/a Baby Pun) recently stopped by the Sway In The Morning show to chop it up. Before getting to possibly one of the best freestyles the show has seen, Sway starts off by talking about how Rivers’ father, the legendary Big Pun helped him establish himself as a radio host in the 1990s. Rivers then gets into the pressure he initially felt to live up to Pun’s legacy, the title of his mixtapes (Wonderland of Misery 1 & 2), and Fat Joe’s relationship with his family.

Chris talks about a time when he and his mom were homeless for a few months while he was in high school (6:00) before they play a recent freestyle he released with Styles P, “Ghost Dance“. Producer Velous (who worked on Kanye West’s “All Day“) then joins them to play some beats, as Chris Rivers proceeds to spit an incredible freestyle (10:00). With a cadence and energy similar to his late father, Rivers spits rapid-fire raps while Sway gives him random words to rhyme with (including getting him to name his top 5 MCs in the freestyle).

They take a few minutes just to react to the freestyle before Chris talks about his technique, and about how talent needs to be developed into skill (18:30). They wrap up the interview by taking calls from the fans. Check out the entire interview below:
