Prince Paul Effortlessly Cuts Up A Tribe Called Quest, Canibus, Freddie Foxxx & Rah Digga (Mix)

Fresh off of his two-part The Cipher Show comprehensive interview appearance, “The Devastating” DJ Prince Paul returns to his “It’s Not The Size Of Your Mix, It’s How You Use It” obscure record mix series. Part 3 in as many months includes a lot of hardcore Hip-Hop.

Paul, a mastermind in the careers of De La Soul and Stetsasonic (as photographed), plus a Gravediggaz founder, drops the needle on many peers. He mixes in some Profile Records-era Nine for a little “redrum”-era lyrical homicide. He plays A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, KMD, and Showbiz & A.G. Lots of Prince Paul-style interludes, film clips, and found footage color the way.

Moving into the late ’90s/early 2000s, the longtime (and former) Tommy Boy Records artist cues up some Rah Digga and Canibus, among many others. Two of the cooler things included are a Kool Moe Dee British Knights commercial, and “Reverend Glock,” from Freddie Foxxx’s (l/k/a Bumpy Knuckles) shelved Flavor Unit Records 1993-1994-era album, Crazy Like A Foxxx.

Prince Paul proves that sometimes no theme is a theme in of itself.
