Skills Trump Luck…Vic Mensa Signs To Roc Nation

Vic Mensa is having an incredible last 12 months. Since INNANETTAPE two years ago, the Chicago, Illinois MC/musician has released a hit video single in “Down On My Luck,” released two songs with Kanye West, and now, he’s signed to one of the music industry’s premiere labels.

Today (April 21) Jay Z announced via Twitter that Roc Nation has signed Mensa. The former Kids These Days front man now joins Rihanna, J. Cole, and Jay Electronica, among others on Hova’s extensive label roster. With distribution spanning several major labels, there is no word on which will handle the Save Money movement member’s product.

With so much excitement in the air, now is a great time to revisit some of Vic’s deepest motivations to create, and intricate story. This Ambrosia For Heads interview was conducted in late 2013, right as things really started to get interesting:

While Roc-A-Fella Records was undoubtedly a dynasty, do you sense that Roc Nation has the potential to rival or eclipse that?
