Chinx Murdered In Queens, New York In Drive-By Shooting
Chinx has been confirmed dead. The artist born Lionel Pickens died this morning (May 17) after being shot multiple times in his native Queens, New York around 4am, according to The Associated Press. The incident, which critically injured another man, was reportedly a drive-by shooting. Pickens and the man were in a car at the intersection of Queens Boulevard and 84th Street in the borough’s Briarwood section when they were attacked by assailants in another vehicle.
A protege of French Montana, the 31 year-old Chinx (a/k/a Chinx Drugz) of the Coke Boys had rapped alongside Mobb Deep’s Proidigy, The LOX’ Jadakiss, and fellow New York City Rap hopeful Bobby Shmurda.
Earlier this year, Chinx released CR5, a street album on the TRMG, Inc. label.
Pickens’ management team issued a statement on Instagram saying his “dedication, humor and vision will always be remembered.”
Meek Mill also mourned his peer on Twitter today:
Can’t let these suckas shatter ya dreams! RIP CHINX!
