One 1990s NYC Underground Hip-Hop Outfit Drops First Visual In Years (Video)

For vinyl-buying fans of 1990s New York City street Rap, Tru Criminal Records was a trusted imprint. Whether the early days of Tonedeff or underground veteran F.T. (a/k/a Fuc That), the label believed in lesser-known acts, and gave them the shine to get heard.

F.T.’s group, Street Smartz was a flagship on Tru Criminal, working with Pharoahe Monch, various D.I.T.C. members, and even appearing on DJ Premier’s NY Reality Check 101 compilation. The squad of F.T., Moaz, Syx, and DJ K.O. reunites with label affiliate Da God Sunz on “3 Points,” a nocturnal essay on what NYC ain’t changed all the way. With K.O.’s recent super-star assembly of guys from EPMD, Public Enemy, 3rd Bass, and Run-DMC, this keeps the momentum strong.

With DOOM, Ka, and The eMC makin’ power-moves from the 12″ days, should Street Smartz get that due shine in the 2-0-1-5?
