This Heavy D Performance Was In A Vault For 30 Years…Until Now (Video)

Today (May 24) is Heavy D’s birthday. The MC/producer/singer born Dwight Myers would have been 48 years old. Sadly, family, friends, and Hip-Hop Heads worldwide lost “the overweight lover” on November 8, 2011 to a pulmonary embolism.

Just one month prior to his death, Hev’ reunited with Heavy D & The Boyz’ DJ Eddie F at the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards, the pair’s first televised performance in 15 years. Today (May 24, 2015), Ambrosia For Heads is proud to share (thanks to iFameTV) one of Heavy D & The Boyz’ first televised appearances, way back in the year of 1987.

Waterbed Hev, G-Whiz, “Trouble” T. Roy (rest in peace), and DJ Eddie F (in coordinated red-and-black outfits) graced the televised stage of “Dance Party USA” in the breakthrough year of their careers. There, the Uptown Records sensations performed introductory Living Large single, “Mr. Big Stuff.” Twenty-eight years later, Heads can see and feel the charisma, dance-tinged showmanship, and timeless appeal that was (and is) Heavy D & The Boyz:

What artist in their first year performs with this kind of energy and appeal today?
