Bun B, Styles P & Sean Price Are Top Tier MCs, On A Statik Selektah Track (Audio)

Last year, DJ and producer Statik Selektah released What Goes Around, an album featuring verses from Ab-Soul, Action Bronson, B-Real, Dilated Peoples, Freddie Gibbs, Joey Badass, Logic, N.O.R.E., Posdnuos, and Sheek Louch (just to name a few!). The album was his sixth since the Massachusetts native launched his solo career with 2007’s Spell My Name Right: The Album, but he has been putting in serious work as a collaborator, as well. To date, he has released projects with Saigon, Freeway, Strong Arm Steady, Crooked I, Termanology, and more. Now, the Duck Down-backed artist is back with a new solo project, and based on his latest single, he’s once again bringing his all-star cast of friends along.

Off of his forthcoming  album, Lucky 7, “Top Tier” features heavy duty verses from fellow Duck Down representative Sean Price, UGK’s Bun B, and the LOX’s Styles P (all three of whom appeared on What Goes Around), each proving why the 3 MCs deserve the number-one spot (as Sean Price boasts, “shots fly, I’ll nail ya, one eye open scopin’ the Popeye’d sailor”). The track follows the album’s first single, “Beautiful Life,” which reunited Statik Selektah with Action Bronson and Joey Badass.

With the release of the “Top Tier,” replete with contributions from seasoned vets, it’s apparent that once again, he is embracing the talents of the old and new schools. Lucky 7 will feature Big K.R.I.T., Rapsody, Skyzoo, and more. Check out “Top Tier” here, and pre-order Lucky 7, due for release on July 7 (get it?).
