King Los Rips What May Be the Best Freestyle of the Year…Off the Top (Video)

King Los has been responsible for some of the best freestyle moments of the last several years. Just as Supernatural, J.U.I.C.E., Eminem, Crooked I, and Canibus helped certify The Wake Up Show in the 1990s, the Baltimore, Maryland MC legitimized Sway’s latest platform with off-the-top bars that drove clicks, interest, and certainly made other challengers take heed. So, when he steps to the mic, expectations are high.

He returned to Sway in the Morning, the scene of many of his microphone crimes, and tackled a special edition of the Five Fingers of Death freestyle challenge he has systematically wrecked. For this installment, he flowed over classics from Boogie Down Productions, Nas, Jay Z, Biggie and Tupac.

Those who have witnessed Los freestyle before know that he flows off the top of the head and it often takes him a bit to warm up. As he progresses, however, the bars get sharper and sharper. Such was the case with this lyrical blitzkreig. After a slow flow over BDP’s “Criminal Minded,” Sway starts to feed Los topics to rhyme to, and that’s when the show begins. Los is able to deftly weave in preposterous topics like “Posthumous” and “Pseudonym,” not only rhyming the words but contextualizing them, as well.

However, it is when the beats stop and he flows a capella that the monster that is King Los is on full display. If this isn’t the best freestyle of the year so far, let us know what is…Check out the video.

Is Los the King? You decide.
