Your Old Droog took Hip-Hop lovers by storm in 2014. Faceless throughout several Internet-buzzing releases, some Heads even went as far as thinking that the clearly New York City narrative was a new pseudonym for Nas. That even had Nasir Jones speaking up.

Not the case. And to quote Ghostface Killah, “since the face got revealed, the game got real.” Droog is in fact a Brooklyn, New Yorker of Eastern European descent. Speaking with the always on-point French documentarians, Gasface, Y.O.D. explains his unique childhood, and how the mid-1990s New York influenced him, even as a young shorty in “A Droogy Droog World.” He recalls his father getting bullied in Harlem, and why his love of Rock & Roll gave way to the kind of Hip-Hop he clearly loves making.
