Western Pennsylvania native Maticulous brings Masta Ace and Blu together on “Bet Your Life.” From Brownsville, Brooklyn to the City Of Angels, Ace and Johnson Barnes have a lot in common. Both of these MCs are more than gifted at looking within (often in self-deprecating lights), while still being elite skilled rappers.

Ace employs a cocky verse, with a pepped-up flow and his signature verse. Fans of early 2000s Masta Ace material will really bond with this presentation. Meanwhile, Blu fits the song perfectly, with his own effortless flow and strong substance. Mat’ creates a rich arrangement that loops, accented by needle-drops.

These MCs could make a whole album together, and based on this, it’d sound great.
