Prince Has Not Moved On From Baltimore. Have You? (Lyric Video)

Prince was among those deeply moved by the April protests in Baltimore, Maryland. What may seem in the rear-view of a year (perhaps a period) that continues to bring incidents, headlines, and tragedies related to police brutality and social unrest, is still very close to the iconic musician. The life and death of Freddie Gray inspired “Baltimore,” a May protest and solidarity record, featuring Eryn Allen Kane. Following the song, the illusive musical legend traveled to the civic center to perform the record as part of an entire concert/peace rally, streamed digitally.

Nearly three months later, Prince’s Ralston Smith-directed “Baltimore” video brings attention not to The Artist, but the issue. This lyric video features facts, jarring images, and a comprehensive review at why people took to the streets, the life lost, and the calls to action. Like Bob Dylan’s “Hurricane,” Common’s “A Song For Assata,” or Ben Harper’s “Like A King,” this record tells a story, with a video that will be a stone in the sands of history:

Do you feel that the mainstream social consciousness has already moved on from Baltimore?
