New Orleans Triple-Threat Pell Showcases His Signature Versatility on Latest Single (Audio)

As an MC, singer, and producer, Pell is an artist whose talents are seemingly unlimited, and he manages to transition seamlessly from genre to genre. Having been labeled “cloud rap,” “future bounce,” and various other terms, this New Orleans native is a musical hybrid whose 2014 album Floating While Dreaming stands as one of the year’s surprise hits, garnering over 3-million streams on Spotify. Now, he is attracting even more attention thanks to his current tour with Oakland siren Kehlani and a performance at SXSW earlier this year.

A couple of weeks ago, he released “Vacation (Whole Week)” and now he’s back with “Vanilla Sky,” a song featuring an unpredictable sound that continues Pell’s tradition of being one of the more dynamic, experimental young artists on the scene today. The single, a track released independently of his forthcoming album (to be released this Fall), incorporates Pell’s singing and rapping against a backdrop of production from Like Minded.
