Logic Returns to Make It Crystal Clear He’s a Microphone Savior (Audio)

After several years of grinding on the underground circuit, Logic had a breakout year in 2014. The Gaithersburg, Maryland MC had several of the year’s best freestyles, earned a high profile slot in the Hip Hop Awards Cyphers and released his first album, Under Pressure, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. Now, the 2013 XXL Freshman is gearing up for his sophomore LP, The Incredible True Story, and it sounds like he is picking up right where he left off, with his first release from the project.

Whether on mixtapes, official albums or high profile appearances, one thing that remains constant with Logic is his all-out verbal assault on the microphone. While his nickname has been “Young Sinatra,” due in part to his resemblance to Frank Sinatra in his youth, it seems he’s claiming a bold upgrade on his new track, “Young Jesus.” Joining Logic on the track is an up and coming MC named Big Lenbo, whose flow is eerily reminiscent of that of Big Pun. Together, the two MCs trade off one another with rapid-fire wordplay which, as Logic announces at the beginning of the track, is designed to take listeners back to the 90s.
