Murs Makes the Best of Things & Releases One of the Most Positive Songs of the Year (Audio)

It seems no matter which way we turn, we’re often surrounded by negativity. Whether it’s work, the news, social media or everyday life, sometimes the bright side seems far away. Enter Murs. The veteran MC has consistently made nourishing music, whether it was songs that shone a light on the consequences of hatred toward others or ones that celebrated the good vibrations that come with enjoying the one you love. With his new track, “Best of Things,” he releases one of the most positive songs of the year.

Murs invites Sharp of Steady Flow to join him, and the two share insights about how, often, happiness is about perspective. The song’s refrain immediately sets the tone, with Murs rapping “I may not had the best of things, but I make the best of everything. No matter which way, the weather swings, I keep it moving, staying focused on the better dreams.” In his verse, he expounds, noting it’s the simple things that make him happy, “Bills’ paid, that’s ballin’ to me. Shit, I’m happy that collections ain’t calling for me.” Sharp follows up with similar sentiments, noting that he’s an MC for the love, not the money, “You know you love to flow when you spend more dough on gas than you got paid for the show.”

In a genre often dominated by talk of “making it rain” and the constant obsession with the paper chase, it’s refreshing to hear 2 MCs celebrate being present to the lives they have and being thankful for them.
