From Compton To France, MC Eiht & DJ Cam Make “Music To Drive By” (Audio)

In what is close to a 30-year career, MC Eiht has worked with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Pete Rock, and Spice 1, among countless others. The Compton Psycho with two gold albums under his belt continues to make moves, in working towards his long-awaited Which Way Is West LP with DJ Premier and Year Round Records.

Staying within Gang Starr affiliates, Eiht crosses the Atlantic Ocean to team with France’s DJ Cam. The onetime Guru collaborator has included the Compton’s Most Wanted front man on his forthcoming Street Life EP (and hisĀ Miami Vice LP). Within is a song that recycles a classic C.M.W. title in “Music To Drive By.” With a sound completely different than used by The Unknown DJ and DJ Slip on the 1992 Gangsta Rap classic, Cam still maintains the G-Funk, driving music feel. It is Eiht’s lyrics however, that remind Heads that with driving music, so come the jackers.
