The Game is Not Playing. Here’s Another Hit Featuring Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, & will.i.am (Audio)

By now, the news of the Game’s forthcoming double-disc release, The Documentary 2, is standard fare for Heads. The anticipation for the Compton MC’s seventh album will serve as the follow-up to his 2005 debut, and the anniversary’s timing has once again brought the Los Angeles neighborhood into the forefront of Hip-Hop. Earlier this week, the Game dropped a heater featuring fellow CPT spitter Kendrick Lamar (“On Me”) and over the summer, he and Drake filmed a classic video with Compton streets in the lead role for “100.” Now, he’s enlisted the help of two of Straight Outta Compton‘s main characters to deliver another banger.

On “Don’t Trip,” the Game trades verses with Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, two former N.W.A. members who played significant roles in the creation of Compton as a bastion for raw, reality rap. The three are joined by will.i.am, the super-producer and Black Eyed Pea who drops a few bars of his own. A special bonus for Heads is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Digable Planets. With 7 days until the release of the new album, it is a happy Friday indeed. Press play.
