DJ Premier & Royce Da 5’9″‘s Long Awaited Collaboration w/ DOOM & Phonte Is Here (Audio)

The first lyrics you hear on “Highs & Lows” are very fitting to the situation, as Royce Da 5’9″ sings “hey there music world, you’ve been keeping ’em waiting.” As the group PRhyme, Royce and DJ Premier announced almost a year ago that they would be releasing a deluxe edition of their self-titled album. According to Pitchfork, that release is coming on December 11, and PRhyme has blessed us with a long awaited collaboration as a teaser.

Heads have known for a while that MF DOOM and Phonte were both going to collaborate with PRhyme for their deluxe album, but it may have been unexpected to see them both appear on the same song, “Highs & Lows.” This song marks the first time that DOOM and Phonte have each collaborated with DJ Premier over his multi-decade-long career, and having them rap on the same song as Royce Da 5’9″ is magical. The song features two verses each from Royce & DOOM, with Phonte spitting the last verse, and all of them bouncing off each others’ rhyme patterns. Check it out below.
