Three years ago, Ghostface Killah and Sheek Louch formed a Wu-Tang Clan and D-Block connection that yielded one of the finest and most overlooked albums of 2012. Wu Block featured unexpected artists like Erykah Badu and familiar faces like Method Man. Yet, it maintained a cohesive sonic texture throughout–one that was neither Ghost nor Sheek, but a melding of sounds into something new. Now, in 2015, the two venerable MCs reunite on Sheek Louch’s forthcoming Silverback Gorilla 2 album (12/4), and it’s clear they have not lost their chemistry.

“I Luv It” opens with baroque chords and Sheek rhyming with no drums. A few bars in, the eerie track yields to a hard-driving production that allows each man to sink effortlessly into the pocket. Once again, the song neither feel like Wu or D-Block, but Wu Block, and it’s clear that the two MCs musical connection remains.
