Every Christmas Eve (December 24), Funkmaster Flex assumes his HOT 97 post as usual, but invites in two fellow legends of radio. Funk Flex brings in DJ Red Alert and DJ Chuck Chillout, two masters of the 1980s airwaves. There, the trio ring in Christmas by playing hours upon hours of the records they love, records that have proven themselves over the decades.

2015’s edition features all three DJs hopping behind the turntables, dropping bombs, clowning around, and playing audio dope. Look out for gems by Mantronix, Sugarhill Gang, Kraftwerk, Big Daddy Kane, Aerosmith, Boogie Down Productions, Whodini, and much, much more. Red calls much of this mix, “B.R.R.: Before Rap Records,” recreating the late 1970s vibes, live on tri-state radio.
