DJ Premier, Royce Da 5’9″ & Joey Bada$$ Say We’re In a New Golden Era (Audio)

The term is used a lot when discussing Hip-Hop. Generally speaking, the Golden Era or Golden Age is used to describe a bygone era, one that rose to prominence in the mid- to early ’90s, when lyricism was considered to be the supreme skill required to be considered a true MC. While for many those days are in the past, knowledgeable Heads know far too well that Hip-Hop fans of today’s music have just as much to look forward to in the art coming from contemporary artists as did generations previous. Now, two celebrated veterans in the game have released a collaboration with one of today’s most celebrated young artists as an homage to the Golden Era and a reminder that it has in fact never ended.

Having premiered earlier this afternoon on Noisey, “Golden Era” is some new heat to promote PRhyme’s deluxe edition of its self-titled debut album, which dropped in 2014. DJ Premier and Royce Da 5’9″ are releasing an extended digital release of the LP on December 11, but it is already available for pre-order. Below, check out Joey Bada$$ as he pays homage to Biggie while Royce reminds listeners that “you are currently witnessing another Golden Era of recording.”
