Murs & 9th Wonder Cover Pharcyde’s “Otha Fish” with Beachy Sensuality (Video)

Murs and 9th Wonder, longtime collaborators who have forged one of the most enduring musical partnerships in Hip-Hop, surprised Heads with a New Year’s Eve release. Brighter Daze arrived at midnight on January 1, 2016, and kicking off the year correctly is an understatement. The free LP stars Rapsody, Mac Miller, Problem, and a handful of other bright talents whose contributions build upon the well established foundation between the two headliners while bringing a fresh, all-encompassing palette of colors to the fore. Their sixth collaborative project together, it’s the first since 2012’s The Final Adventure, an ominously titled album but luckily any worry of the duo ending their relationship was quashed last week.

Murs, a Los Angeles native, brought along his North Carolina cohort for a flip of the Pharcyde’s classic 1992 track “Otha Fish,” featured on the South Central group’s debut album, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde. And today, the two dropped a corresponding visual, one set on a beautiful beach studded with land-bound mermaids. The song serves as a reminder to all who suffer from tunnel vision when hurting in love, and the video features Murs serenading the ocean, praising its ability to wash away the pains of life. Check it out below, and re-visit the Pharcyde’s version right after.

Here’s The Pharcyde’s original version.
