Dot Demo Turns A Careful Whisper Into A Crazy Freestyle (Video)

Dot Demo is one to watch. With influences like Big Pun, Nas, Jay Z and J Dilla, the Bronx, NY MC has high standards and high expectations. He recently hit Statik Selektah’s Show Off Radio and wrecked a couple of beats, turning a careful whisper into a crazy freestyle.

Dot uses the first record Statik throws on to get loose. He flexes an unorthodox but perfectly on beat cadence that is reminiscent of Method Man’s, even shouting out Tical at one point in the verse. As he progresses, he gradually lowers his voice, finishing off with a careful whisper. It’s at that point, when Statik asks Demo if he wants to keep going, that things go to another level.

Statik plays the instrumental to the NYGz “Giantz Ta Thiz,” which flexes the same “Seven Minutes of Funk” sample used on hits by EPMD, Jay Z and more, and Dot gets busy. He amps up the volume and the pace as he effortlessly dissects the beat.
