2016 marks 20 years of People Under The Stairs. The Los Angeles, California duo of Thes One and Double K were among the artists who helped showcase the West Coast Hip-Hop Underground during the time when Jurassic 5, Planet Asia, Dilated Peoples, and Saafir signed major label deals. P.U.T.S. never did, but instead kept on producing fundamentally funky Hip-Hop rooted in rhyme routines, dusty samples, and laid back vibes.

Parsing out their tenth album, Gettin’ Off The Stage, Thes and K are showing off the LP in segments. “Step 2” features six songs, clocking in at just under half an hour. The results are aurally pleasing, as this tandem sticks to their guns, and agelessly sets the mood for kickback California, over beautifully arranged beats.

Released in November, The Gettin’ Off The Stage, Step 1 is available now. The EP features Greg Nice.
