Donnie Trumpet & Chance The Rapper Share Some “Surf” That Never Sailed (Audio)

It was a year ago this weekend (May 28) that Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment released Surf. Like this month’s Coloring Book by Chance The Rapper, there was no price on the collection of Jazz-meets-Hip-Hop songs. However, thanks to a change in the data reporting by Nielsen, Coloring Book has since become the first stream-only album to make the Top 200 of the album charts—a Top 10 at that.

The Chicago, Illinois horn-playing musician decided to release a 10-minute medley of songs that did not catch the Surf release, despite being recorded in those sessions. Featuring Chance and company, these 10 minutes of previously unheard music are melodic, nutritious to the spirit, and very forward thinking. For Heads craving even more music out of this movement, your holiday weekend is handsomely rewarded.

In these songs, there’s some elements of New Wave and Synth Pop.
