YG & Drake’s Chemistry Stays Strong With A Question For The Haters (Audio)

One of the centerpieces to YG’s triumphant 2014 major label debut My Krazy Life was the breakthrough platinum single “Who Do You Love?” Drake lent his spotlight to the Compton, California spitter, who like Drizzy, came up through mixtapes and street records long before the big label machine.

In 2016, the Toronto to CPT connection is at it again. “Why You Always Hatin'” sounds nothing like “Who Do You Love?” While both records raise questions, this one veers away from the traditional DJ Mustard sound, but still has throwback elements. This one (whose producer is not yet revealed) has hard bass hits, an aggressive chorus, but a very different vibe. Like Drake’s Rappin’ 4-Tay-reworking verse then, he decides to come with raps, and a ton of confidence. The edited, tagged version appeared at Rap-Up. This is a likely inclusion on the upcoming CTE/Def Jam follow-up, Still Krazy.

The chorus is courtesy of Bay area’s Kamaiyah. YG is poised to be the biggest CTE star to date since Jeezy, its founder.
