DOOM Helps Out deM atlaS With A Pharcyde Inspired Beat (Audio)

St. Paul, Minnesota’s deM atlaS has become a name synonymous with Rhymesayers Entertainment, the imprint launched by Ant and Slug of Atmosphere, as well as Musab Saad (Sab the Artist) and Brent Sayers (Siddiq). Since releasing his 2013 debut E.P. Charle Brwn, the MC born Joshua Turner has linked with plenty of indie Rap loyalty, but the news in his most recent announcement is likely to be the most anticipated of his career. On July 15, he will drop mF deM, a 13-track project comprised entirely of previously released beats from the one and only MF DOOM.

The free download is spearheaded by “Grbg Trsh,” a Pharcyde-esque single that could very well be equally at home on an early-career LP from De La Soul or any one from the Living Legends or Hieroglyphics. Capturing the essence of a 20-something’s angst, it showcases deM atlaS’s Grunge sensibilities, but it’s also an exercise in the lighthearted. At times, he agonizes over the fact that nothing goes his way, but at other times, he sounds downright ebullient.

Heads can head to Fifth Element for a free download of the lead single today, or get their hands on a very limited run of vinyl and C.D. versions of the entire mixtape come July 15.
