Elzhi & O.C. Are Underground MC Legends. They Sound Great Together (Audio)

Although they run in different circles, Elzhi and O.C. are two highly-skilled MCs who have a lot in common. Over the years, both the Detroit, Michigan native and the Brooklyn, New Yorker have complicated histories with celebrated crews (Slum Village and D.I.T.C., respectively). Both lyricist have history with storied record labels—and some of Hip-Hop’s best (Eminem, Jay Z, Big L, Royce 5’9″). With lots of great music still in the tank, both of these wordsmiths are fully independent, and gripping mics with a vengeance. In 2016 alone, O.C. has been part of an exciting Diggin’ In The Crates digital comeback, while Elzhi released the stellar Lead Poison LP.

Danish-born, New York-based producer Ras Beats brings these juggernauts together on “Knowledge Of Self.” These MCs know who they are, and they know how to appease loyal fans. On Ras’ sample mosaic beat, complete with scratches and a grabbing pulsating drum pattern, this moment lives up to its on-paper magnitude. This song appears on Ras Beats’ upcoming Control Your Own (July 19).
