Earlier this summer, news broke that Grammy-winning producer Prince Paul teamed up with Grammy-winning Ladybug Mecca of Digable Planets to form BROOKZILL! alongside Don Newkirk (The Dix) and veteran São Paulo, Brazil MC Rodrigo Brandão (aka Gorila Urbano). A blend of Brazilian and New York City Hip-Hop music, the group will release its debut album Throwback To The Future on Tommy Boy Records on October 7, but Heads need not wait that long for a sampling of what’s to come.

In anticipation of the debut LP, Prince Paul announced that he would be dropping three mini-mixes, each of which serves to highlight Mecca, Rodrigo, and himself individually. Today (August 17), BROOKZILL! Mixtape #2 – Ladybug Mecca Mix arrives, and it’s a rhythmic, multicultural mélange that jams.
