Yelawolf Signs Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul To Slumerican

One of the biggest comebacks in recent Rap memory has been surrounding Juicy J. The Memphis, Tennessee Hip-Hop pioneer and founding member of Three 6 Mafia reinvented himself with 2013’s Stay Trippy. Juicy’s first major label solo LP (Sony Records) would be executive produced by Wiz Khalifa, bringing the artist to the the Top 5 of the charts for the first time in his solo career, plus a the first time since 2008’s Last 2 Walk Three 6 album. Along the way, J scored a gold single in “Bounce It,” and a platinum plaque in “Bandz A Make Her Dance.”

Also serving as an A&R at Taylor Gang Records, Juicy J’s ties to Wiz Khalifa and career resurgence landed him on five Top 20 singles by other artists since 2013. Those tracks included a Katy Perry #1 (“Dark Horse”), as well as cuts by Ke$ha, Usher, and Ne-Yo.

It appears that Juicy J’s remaining partner in Three 6 Mafia has made a similar move. DJ Paul has signed with Yelawolf’s Slumerican imprint. There, he joins onetime Timbaland protege Bubba Sparxxx and Sean P, of the YoungBloodz. Paul worked with Yela’ on Da Mafia 6ix, a 2013 Three 6 reunion of sorts that also included past Three 6 members Crunchy Black, Koopsta Knicca, Lord Infamous and Gangsta Boo. Juicy J was not involved. Since then, Knicca and Lord Infamous both have died.

Yela’ confirmed the news via Instagram. He mentioned Juicy J, urging the two Three 6 Mafia members to resume collaborations:
