Cormega Enrolls Sizzla For a Dose of Street Knowledge (Audio)

Queensbridge icon Cormega is celebrating the 15th anniversary of his debut solo album, The Realness this year, giving his fans an opportunity to reflect on its importance in the cultivation of his prowess as an MC. 2014’s Mega Philosophy, a collaborative LP with fellow QB representative Large Professor, was touted as one of the year’s best, a phenomenal achievement for an artist whose career dates back to the 1980s. Earlier this year, he dropped a collab with Maybach Music Group’s Gunplay, a vigorous loosie that whetted the appetite of Mega fans, who have been anxiously awaiting new music from the beloved rapper.

Today (September 2), Cormega can be heard on another new collab, this time with famed Reggae and Dancehall veteran, Sizzla. “Street Knowledge,” which Mega described on Twitter as being “for di rude boy massive” is a merging of sounds that gives a new meaning to Jamaica, Queens. Featuring the cool, calm, and collected vocal style Cormega’s known for (“I went from adolescent dealer to being considered one of the realest lyricists that ever did it”) and Sizzla’s signature patois, it’s a song about triumph and self-determination.

“Street Knowledge” will appear on the soundtrack to “BE Inspired,” a film documenting the world of skiing with a decidedly Hip-Hop inspired perspective. The soundtrack also features Raekwon, Pro Era’s CJ Fly & Kirk Knight, Dillon Cooper, and Kardinal Offishall. The film is slated to arrive Fall 2016.
