M.O.P.’s Billy Danze Ups The Ante In A New Politically-Charged Song (Audio)

Several years ago, M.O.P.’s Lil Fame made a side project with Termanology. Billy Danze, the other half of Mash Out Posse, has never stepped out of First Family. With a long anticipated solo album on the way, “Berkowit,” as the Brooklyn, New Yorker also goes by shows his unique sound.

“6 O’Clock Briefing” is vastly different than the typical M.O.P. sound, in substance and presentation. Bill gets in President Obama’s ear before he leaves the Oval Office. The song evaluates the good, the bad, and the mysterious of the last eight years—touching upon many world events. This is high concept to the former Roc-A-Fella and G-Unit Records artist, and he raps slower and less frantically than Heads may expect.

Whereas Scarface famously repurposed a beat popularized by M.O.P. (see “World Famous”) for “On My Block,” does this particular track not sound a bit like Brad Jordan?

As a reminder, Mash Out and ONYX attempted to crowd-source an album in 2015. While that did not happen, nobody says it couldn’t still be in the works.
