Common Wants Solange’s “Cranes” To Find Forever In His Remix (Audio)

Solange Knowles earned her first #1 album earlier this month. A Seat At The Table contains thoughtful, assertive, and incredibly timely music. Video single “Cranes In The Sky” is the entry point to many on the younger Knowles sister’s latest dissertation in sound, with an album that truly owns her greatness.

Common is one fan of the Saint/Columbia Records album and its aforementioned cut. “Every once and a few years, there are certain songs that come out and have the sound of forever,” Common said of the song co-written and co-produced by Solange, Raphael Saadiq, and Dylan Wiggins (D’wayne’s son). “‘Cranes in the Sky’ is that song for me. Every time I listened to it, I keep wanting to hear it again and again. I started mumbling some words to it and then decided I want to write a verse. This is an unofficial remix simply inspired by the love of art.”

Comm’ lets Solange’s artistry breathe, as he drops in his own thoughts through a lead-off verse. His verses deal with finding (and keeping) love in tough times, and hope prevailing. Along the way, the MC name-checks Lauryn Hill, Roy Ayers, and some of Solange’s incredible album lyrics.
