Mac Miller Has Taken His Music To A New Place. This Music Video Does The Same.

In terms of 2016’s artistic strides, Mac Miller’s The Divine Feminine may be one of the biggest. Having already reinvented his persona, and enriched his skills between 2011’s Blue Slide Park and 2013’s Watching Movies With The Sound Off, Miller made an album that basks in love, sex, and one man’s love and appreciation of females on his latest.

“Stay” is a tender track for a fourth single, especially around its chorus. The moment finds a couple at odds, with the MC speaking to his counterpart to not leave, and focus on the strengths in the relationship. For the video, Mac is alone, standing at the water’s edge, stating his case for his girl to keep the relationship strong.

Mac Miller & Anderson .Paak Release Their Video For 1 Of The Feel Good Songs Of The Summer

While the thoughts may be scattered, they ring as authentic:

Okay now, baby, don’t you leave my side, don’t even try
I’ma go crazy, girl, you saved me, man, take me, get me piece of mind
It’s only she and I, ocean floor, how deep we dive
We be high lookin’ for another fuckin’ tree to climb
She was playin’ hard to get, I read between her lines
Binge watched Sopranos, made it all the way to season five
I am her, she is I, she had to come, see her freaky side
Leavin’ me behind
